Motorcycle risers part 3 starting to finish

Today I did quite a bit of filing/sanding. I figured out that I could use my belt sander for quite a bit of it. I still have a long way to go though. I also saw a vast difference in the way the first riser sanded and the second one. The first one I had some cast aluminum mixed with some extruded, but the second was pure extruded aluminum (alot softer). I can see it starting to come together though. I casted the other riser and three pans full of ingots tonight. That is the most I have cast in one firing. I found out also that it helps when you have someone there to help you. The second riser turned out better than the first. I packed this one alot harder and it came out alot smoother. I started filing and sanding on the first one today. I think it is going to turn out pretty good. As soon as I get it all filed down, I will post some pics. i can't wait to get them done.

Well... i did it. I casted one of the pullback risers for my bike. It was kind of aggravating but I got it done. I do have a bunch of clean up to do on it though. Here is the pic. I will post another after I get it looking nice.

Thanksgiving motorcycle parts

Today I will cast my first motorcycle part. I am casting pullback risers. I made the patterns out of wood. I will cast them, file them, sand them and polish them to make them shine. I hope they turn out good. It took long enough to make the patterns. We shall see. I will keep you posted.

Well... I just joined the group. I have been casting aluminum for about a month and a half now. I have done 1 real casting and made a three more patterns. It won't be long before I cast those. I have had 1 mishap already.

The other day, I rammed up the pattern, drew it, melted, and poured. The mold did not recieve therefore AL went over the side of the flask and onto my driveway. I went and shook it out and realized after looking that I had a nice casting of my sprue. In [...]

Hello All,

I have decided to take the next leap for Metal Casting Zone and have it moved over on to a Dedicated Server. This should speed it up for our overseas friends. It should also help out everyone in terms of speed.
