Your decision criteria should be based on production volume(productivity), soundness required and complexity of the part. PDC will have a better productivity and recommended for a load bearing part. The main challeges come when the machine cannot take the size of the machine and you would be left with the only option of gravity cast.

Being a load bearing part, the decision is easier to go with PDC.
