It turns out that finding bentonite In san diego is like pulling teeth.
I ask for it, I get the tilted head open mouth blank stare......
One guy even asked me what I wanted to blow up?!?!?!?!?!
What???
He said, "Bentonite, it's an explosive---you need a permit for that"
I wonder how many accidental cat explosions happen across the US every day?.....
I did get a line on a ditchwitch company that should have it.

I'm going to burn it out tomorrow night.
I picked up a 50 lb bag of bentonite today for $12.00
It's about 45 lb more than I need I think. Anyway, I have it....

I too have dozens of pounds of materials that were dirt cheap but heavy as heck. Iron oxides for pigmenting custom waxes, etc. Finding the sources seems to be the hard part then comes finding a place to store a heap of stuff I may never get around to using.
