TOPIC: Hi Folks

Hi Folks 2 Years, 1 Month ago
I Have just joined. First time I have ever joined any forum so bear with me. I live on the very small British Channel Island of Alderney and have far too many hobbies. (See my profile). Please contact me and say Hi.

I have been using lost foam white polystyrene which I paint with "Mud". In my case I use a mixture of tile adhesive and emulsion paint because that is what I happened to have on the shelf. I have a problem in that the mud penetrates the interstices of the foam, and these microcavities are then replicated in the surface of the casting. Applying masking tape to the surface of the pattern solves the problem but is cumbersome. Blue foam gives good finish but needs hotter pour to ensure burn-out. Does anyone have a better idea that masking tape?

Welcome to the forum.

I've had many of your hobbies in the past. Moved to a smaller place and work all the time, so I barely have time to do any right now.

Hi Jammer. Thanks for the meet 'n greet. Your profile suggests that you have the same problem as I do : "My kingdom for a moment of time"
