Hi 1 Year, 6 Months ago
Just joined the site. Strangely I had my Furnace delivered on Monday before I even knew of this site, am intending to cast brass, aluminium and maybe a bit of silver.

I have a small Kasenit furnace with Amal gas injector and 5 crucibles. Was set up for Natural Gas but will rejet for propane.

All other tools I will have to make including the cope and drags sand to buy too.

This furnace was taken from a skip complete with Crucibles and Flare.

The Gas Injector is an AMAl 354 long choke with a jet of about 2.5mm.

Great to have you aboard Doc!

Can you post some photos of your furnace? I am in buying mode and would like a review if you have time.

By the way, cool avatar.

Still have lots to do before I can start casting ie make tools, get a propane tank and fittings.

Also have had my lathe delivered yesterday, so I have to get that inside out of the rain in the next day or two (it is covered up honest)

The lathe is a prewar Myford 4" with exposed gearing and belt drive, all in working order.

Dumpsters I belive you call them or skips over here, all the best bargains but you have to be patient, for the right stock

Lathe was my mates but he's got nowhere to put it yet, now he's single.

Also have a friend with a real old english Forge packed with goodies.

Even some of my Trike is built from scrap.

The rev counter seen hanging from the side of the tank is a 1937 Bullnose Morris sidelight and it's twin is on the front under the headlights as a running light.

Rear view mirror is made from a 75mm shell casing and scrap brass, Brass tank panel a coal scuttle.
