Metal Casting Zone

Hi, I am thinking about getting into metal melting as a new hobby. Can someone point me in the wright direction to get started? I have checked out some furnaces from different sites on the web. I found one on Lost & Foundry web site (Model L Foundry Kit-$440)not sure if this is the way to go or not? Any help you can give me on how to get started would be greatly appreciated.

You can start by reading the e-books on this site and read through most of the posts on here. There's a lot of good info on here.
Check out your local library for books on casting, some authers are Ammens, and Chastain and others.

Look around there's lots of stuff out there. I think most of us built our own furnaces out of metal buckets or propane tanks. We have a lot of fun melting stuff.
Just amke sure you be careful, this is not very forgiving if you make a mistake.
