You Tube resource for newbie / professional 10 Months ago  
www.youtube.com has a ton of short videos - some great, some stupid on casting. If you search lost wax, you get at least 60 videos, some made by professional jewelers with step by step tips and tricks for each phase. The verbal is where you can pick up some things you may not have considered. There are also big foundry videos with some impressive equipment which is down converted to backyard use.

DIY instructables have some also - but not so much

ive learnt a lot from youtube and found the jewelry vids very interesting. its a great resource and learning aid.

The one thing that drives me nuts on the You-tube casting videos is they melt the metal, remove the crucible from the furnace, pour it in a hole in some sand, put the crucible back, End Of Video. No shake out, no showing success or failure.
This isn't true of jewelry or instructional videos. But about 90% of backyard casters and most college foundries, don't show the result. I always assume it was a total failure.

i agree with jammer and dont be shy about posting failures here bob. we like to figure out what went wrong and offer suggestions.
