Mould making 2 Years, 11 Months ago

I've been unable to make complex waxes with moulds. The wax just doesn't fill the little spots. They're not even that little. I don't understand. I'm using Freeman Flakes turquoise, which is a pretty standard injection wax. I'm using silicone caulk for mold making and where the wax does reach this material achieves nice resolution. I am injecting by hand with a syringe. Is it pressure that I need more of? I am venting more than it seems I'd need to and still getting half-waxes. Help? Tips?
Thank you

Is your wax cooling prior to complete filling (e.g. too low of initial wax temp, too cool of mold temp, too much time between warmer and injection...)? Just a few thoughts...

Hi There...
Mybe I can make a few surggestions. Your temperaure of the wax must stay constant, and spot on 69oc to 72oc is around my temp on my wax injector, your wax may be cooling too much and a suringe my not have the pressure. The other important thing when making waxes is the hold time against the wax injector.as the rubber mould is held for a few seconds at the wax machine to maintain pressure into the cavity of the mould. I've had large items to cast in brass and when making the waxes have a hold time against the injestor of around 4 to 5 seconds. Best of luck.

It could be too low of pressure, but you might also want to try adding some flow additive to your wax. Might help get it in the little areas....
