Casting Brass 1 Year, 6 Months ago

Dear All,
I'am a newbie to this forum as well as to 'metal casting'. I hope to clarify a few doubts here.
In clock making I came across a problem where I have to cast and attach a brass wheel to a steel arbour(Axil). Is it possible to combine both these steps and finish it in one shot? ie., making a wax replica of the wheel on to the arbour , then make a cast around it, pour off the wax and replace it with molten brass.
Please tell me wethere this theory will work?
Will the bond between the steel arbour and brass wheel be strong?

I think I would try to cast the brass piece and drill the hole for the arbor. Make it a tight, press fit. Heat the brass a little before putting it on, so it shrinks onto the shaft.

so does that mean that molten brass (after cooling)brass won't snug tightly around the steel arbour?

I was thinking the brass and steel will be hot and each has it's own shrink rate.
You may have to experiment.
