Brass lost wax casting 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Ive been at it again, this is my second attempt with lost wax and brass. I must say I have progressed a bit since my last try. I made a mold from the origional part useing oomoo silicone ans poured the wax into it then made the plaster mold with satin cast 20
first burn out was in a toaster oven then into the kiln. came out very well.
My next project will be to try casting 10 of them at the same time in the same mold.
I only hope they come out as well as this single one did.

I like your pot, too. I picked up an electic pot, like a small coffe pot, with a temp controller. It works pretty good, but doesn't get hot enough for the machinable wax I'm trying to make. Melts beeswax really well.

What was your burnout schedule in the kiln? I keep reading 12 hours with a ramp up schedule. It all sounds like a lot of electric.

Ive only been useing a 2" flask so far, first step is the toaster oven for about an hour at 500'f then into the kiln until the temp hits 1350'f then its done. Im sure with a larger flask and a mold the causes the wax to puddle inside it ill have to increase the time but so far so good....
