That's My Boy! Lost Foam Nameplate. 1 Year, 2 Months ago
My son wanted to do a lost foam pour so he made up a nameplate like the one I did for work. He cut the letters out of foam and the plate. Glued them together with a hot glue gun and glued a sprue and riser on. Used too much glue but didn't seem to hurt anything. I thought I had a before picture of the pattern but I guess not.
He packed it in almost dry green sand. I put a cup on the sprue to help him pour. Then it erupted out of the riser. I'm glad I had the metal try down, I want to fill it with sand for pours.

That's the way my 21 year old son is. He tries but he's just not into it.

We were very slack on safety, next time it's full jacket and heavier pants. My wife already said if anyone gets burned, she's shutting the foundry down.
Better safe than sorry.

i think he has caught the casting bug! if he was me at his age you would go to work and come home to find the furnace going or just cooling.
