Hey there, I was just intrested in making Copper Castings from a bunch of Copper I Have laying around. I Propane Torched and Melted some copper in my Fireplace Last night but when It hardened, The Copper is a really peachy colour?? How in the heck am I suppossed to get that Copper Finish that everybody loves? Because mine is just Pink/Peachy....... When I take some sand paper and scuff it up I get that shiny look but its scratched.... Why is it all pink like that?? ( Meltled Copper Transformer Wire )

Anyways, any help would be awsome! Whats this talk about flux I am hearing about? Is there a certain method of fire I should be using to melt the copper, or what?

I have never tried pure Copper, I have heard that it isn't very easy to cast. I think with direct flame you are getting a lot of oxidation, making the metal off color.

when copper is heated it changes colour. this "colour" is removed with a acid bath. i use hydrochloric acid ...phosphic acid (rust remover) plus you use can use a "salt and vinegar" mix.
