I'm interested in casting nickel alloys. has anybody worked them here?

the only nickel casting ive done is with the oxy set making some jewelry . i reckon you could use a spin caster for small items in nickel.

Im looking at making ingots. I get all of the scrap and turnings from work, so im more or less looking to pig out the scrap and keep around for a rainy day.

fair enough. i would suggest a oil fired furnace as lpg gas wont be hot enough. you would also need a ceramic crucible. check out "lost and foundry" " website for supplies. i used silver soldering flux as a flux and used small graphite crucibles. (they didnt hold up very well!) it was very expensive "oxygen" wise.

Thanks, ill look into that site. Im still working on my oil burner, cant get to into it right now because my wife and I just had our first child. I was able to get a great deal on brick (zurmul I believe is the tradename) for a dollar a brick. One of these days ill have it all together.

it worked well but it was only on very small amounts. (old nickel coins )
