Image three of three.

Here is a macro shot of the sample texture used. These would be very fine feather textures. Each rounded feather texture is about 2mm across or 1/16".

The Lee pot didn't give you expected temps for each setting? Different bullet leads have different melting temps.
That is a nice looking metal pot. Looks like plenty of room underneath for molds.

A full 4"-10cm below the pouring nipple, and there is a purpose built extension available on the net for about $20 that adds I something like 50% more height.

That is the Lee pot I received $63 out the door from Cabelas.

Any guesses of what this alloy really is made of?

The manual says roughly stabilizes at 900F on high (10) and 450F on low (1). Now that I think about it at setting 2 or roughly 500F the metal should of been molten in 30 minutes. I am inclined to think this wasn't the case because I had so little metal to work with. Hard to believe all that rubble came from a solid white metal bar. But it did. Always with a yellow surface coating with purple highlights.

The castings were hand polished with foam pad and Katsup. Katsup has a lot of vinegar in it. It will polish aluminum too.
