TOPIC: Ressurecting a 100 year old monster

I've got all this lead type but it's about worthless for casting. If I make an impression in the sand and cast it it comes out backward. The only thing I can do is impress it in the pattern to have inset letters. I got lots of type books and can look up some fonts for you. Most of the old stuff was Caslon, Garamond and Cheltenham (sp).
I really like your plaque, you should be able to sell them if you can get mass production.

Thanks Jammer, I can't remember the name of the font, I found it on Microsoft Word, it's not precicely right, but it's closer than anything else I had. My original pic that I based the plaque off got water damaged in my shop, otherwise I'd scan and post it for a comparison. I'd like to see how much one of these on Flea-bay would go for, heck, there were only 83 original ones. The plate style changed somewhere in the run too, because Mr. Lynch has plate #70 and it's a lot simpler design, not as much lettering and no mention of the patent date. He doesn't know when the plate style switched either. I'd like to find out what numbers are in existence, and maybe make up the entire set of the rest of the numbers for sale. i bet there'd be a collector out there who would like that type of thing. I'd feel funny about selling a number for my own profit that a museum or someone actually owns, not sure of the legalities there.

looks terrific odduck. i think you might be a bit hard on yourself. it will look different in cast iron so i guess a perfect aluminium one is needed as a pattern.

I kind of meant to sell them through the museum so both of you could have some profit.
If the cost per unit isn't too high.
