Problem - Casting left with hardened sand 1 Year, 6 Months ago

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows a solution for this problem.
We recieve castings of an air chamber that must be 100% free of porosity to prevent air leakage. To do this apparently the foundry casts at a high temperature, and in doing so its causing problems with the sand insert (air channel), as it doesnt come out fully, and leaves some of the sand insert, hardened and left lodged in the important air channel. The big problem in our application is if any of the sand comes dislodged, it can get in the seals and cause air leakage, which can be catastrophic for the system.
We attempted to sand blast the casting, but we dont get enough power through the air channel to break it all up.
If anyone has any ideas, i would be very appreciative.
Cheers

google extrude hone, its a processed that pumps a thick dough like abrasive thru ports to smooth them out. It is popular in the racing word for cyl head ports.
