Hi there,
I'm new to this forum, so Hello to everyone!
I'm trying to find a simple way to make plain or very simple plain band rings.
The material to be cast is low melting point metal so RTV or some other rubber could be fine. I would like something that unmolds easily and a material/mold that will endure repeated castings.
Any suggestions would be welcomed. Obviously, simple is best but I tried to make a mold out of silicone putty, using a silver mans ring for the template. Simple idea was to bury it in rubber and cut the top off. Heating the mold in hot water was hoping to simply squirt the metal in to the rink and let the top of the ring be finished by air cooling. When it came time to remove the ring, I could move the outside part of the mold but the solid middle point held the ring securely.
Any ideas folks? Direct email is dgourlay "at" cogeco.ca (obviously replacing the "at" with "@" for anti spam protection!
Thanks
Doug
