amy sent me this link, I can't get it to come up. It may be blocked because I'm at work.
If anyone can get into it, let me know.

Here is a link to the first attempt at pouring iron---not using ore but scrap instead.
the cupola looks great
The major problem - not enough coke crushed up ready to satisfy the cupola. then the iron got hard ooops.
still ironing out the bugs--not sure if the pour will happen by the bicentennial

we are in need of some flasks to set our molds in.
might have to make them out of wood --being careful not to burn them up LOL
Or maybe sheet cake pans might work?
Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated
Thanks, Amy

Snap Flasks would be the way to go. Just mold up the sand and then unlatch the flask and take it off. That way you can make up several molds with only one flask. Maybe XL can post another picture of his, they are pretty simple to make. You would need several molds ready, once the Iron starts flowing.
Looking at the pictures, you may need more air into the tuyere. Or a larger pipe from your blower. Scrap cast should be easier to melt than ore since the cast has Carbon and Silicon in it and has a lower melting point. Runs like water once it melts.
Keep us informed of your progress.
