Anyone have recommended books on beginnin casting? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Does anyone have recommended books for casting? I'm trying to make a ring, and would really like to read as much as possible before I try. I would like to get a book with pictures and possibly on steam casting too. Anyone have suggestions?

Hi Dwarf1

Always good to have a library of good books to have printed details on hand at all times and aonemarine is also correct to say that there are a lot of good videos to view on the google, there arn't too many I haven't watched. May I add my 2 cent worth

an old book now but still good is "Centrifugal or lost wax jewellery casting"
By Murry Bovin. Revised by Peter Bovin. Good pictures in this book.

A new book I picked up 2 years ago was "Lost wax Casting" old ,new, and inexpensive methods. By Fred R Sias,Jr.,Phd.
This last book has good tables of melt temps and troubleshooting for lost wax.
If you are wanting to make a ring lost wax or steam casting may be the way to go. Find a jewellery tools supplier in your area, they often stock a range of text books for jewellery manufacturing. Johncast.
