Days like theese I wish I had a pyrometer, the casting really isnt all that thin and was vented at the other end so the only thing I can figure is it was too cold.
it is bronze and seemed quite fluid in the pot but as soon as i poured I knew I was in trouble.

hmmm?????? i would have cast it vertically. the shape of the pattern is ok.

yes that was a vertical pour fed with feet up, now i just have to get to work on the rest of the parts lol. I guess crankshaft and support bearings are next.

Let's see your verticle flask. I've got one started in foam and hope to cast it in Aluminum this weekend.

they dont call them "bronzer flasks" for nothing. i use mine vertically and horizontally you cant go wrong on small parts. keep the aluminium thick say 1/2 inch and it will withstand a hit of brass without melting.
