Can you cast steel in a centrifugal machine with, say, satin 20 investment? I want to make a maker's mark stamp. I bet bronze would be a fine bet as well, but why not go with steel for how easy it would be to weld into a tool. . . ?

to melt steel you will need a very high heat crucible. please let us know if you find a source for such a thing. a member here cast a small amount of cast iron recently in his furnace. it took a lot of fuel!also his crucible crumbled.but his casting was great. checkout his post in the cast iron section.

For a jewelers stamp you would be better off buying one from microstamp or another company. They have specialized setups to make the stamps so that when used , the stamp is clear and sharp. The shape of the letters and the depth have a great deal to do with it as also with the hardness of the metal used for the stamp as well. They use CNC and EDM to make them.

Just my opinion.
