TOPIC: A motorcycle foot peg casting

A motorcycle foot peg casting 3 Years, 3 Months ago
This was a quick fix for a friend that layed over a 454 Kawi and broke the foot peg off. Luckly we went back and found the parts to make the pattern from laying in the grass. I sculpted in the missing and broken parts with yellow bakable hobby clay, including the mounting holes for the rubber pad.
This made a clean pattern to mold from. I had wetted down the green sand before we left to pick up the parts at the site of the accident. No personal injury (thats good) just a few scratches on the tank and a bent brake lever and the broken foot peg. I heated the leaver and it straghtened up nicely.
Here is a snap of the foot peg deal.... one picture tells it all

kineticdc,
Thanks for the gold star. LOL
As you realize some days the sand likes you, and some days it don't. This day it chummed up to me and the casting mold, came out real clean when the pattern was removed.
Always pleasing to tap the pattern and see a crisp shadow appear, you know it is going your way. Unfortunately I have no photos of the molding in progress. Need to do better and stop to take a few shots during the mold making process. Everybody does it a little different it seems. Same target for the end results though, a clean mold.
