These will be shell. I'm a first time blogger and do not understand how this works.

moulding for detail comes with practise if you are using sand casting! there are many factors to be taken into account. one point however is with sand casting the castings arent "finished" when they come out of the mold . they need additional clean up! like filing, annealing, machining, and so on. basically the casting will give you a piece of material roughly in the shape you need and then you need to do the rest! there are other ways to cast like the lost foam method. most metal models of today are cast in steel dies (molds) these are very expense and do have limited life hence "limited editions" do you have a pic of what you would like to cast?????perhaps post it and then we can better advise you.

maybe the sand casting is better in some area like some thing you do not need to maching and polishing.Like ornament, and big parts. The die casting mold made of steel is too expensive for this kinds. How do you think?

die casting is generally for larger quantities because the tooling cost is much higher. The details with a die cast part is much finer, but the first part price is thousands of times higher.

I would suggest that unless you want a few thousand parts, try to make them using the sand casting process.

What type and size of models are you planning to make?

Die-casting is way to expensive for most small runs of castings.
Rubber spin-casting is a much better choice and a lot cheaper.

A picture of the type of parts that you want would help.
