Looking for a jewelry caster 1 Year, 12 Months ago
This is an amazing forum - there's a lot to learn here! Maybe someday I'll have the space to do my own casting, but for now, I need someone to do it for me. I am a sculptor and jewelry designer and have done some casting myself, but don't have the space for the casting equipment. I had a jewelry caster who cast my work in gold and silver, but he retired, and I haven't found anyone else who would do it but not charge me full retail for it. I need to be able to buy the castings at a reasonable price so I can sell them at retail. I order about a year's worth of castings at a time, and that's not a huge number because I don't wholesale them, I just sell them from my website and my booth at shows. I have searched the web for months trying to find a caster and I must be using the wrong kind of search terms, because I haven't found anyone. The one I had before was recommended to me by another artist who has gotten out of jewelry, so she has nobody new to recommend. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Thanks John! I really need someone a little closer to Ohio, though! Thanks for the PM.

Hi Lynda, Welcome to the forum!

I live in Ohio, but I haven't done any precious metals. I just slam around Aluminum. As much as I spill, I'd be scared to do Gold.

If your ever in Columbus, you could check at the community arts center. I know they have some bronze casting classes, maybe someone would know of a caster who work with Gold and Silver. I can't think of the street or it's real name, but it's on the south end of downtown near German Village. Seems like it's The Columbus Community Center for the Arts. I'll Google it.

I just joined today. I am a Silver Jewelry Caster. I used to own a Large Jewelry factory with as many as 38 employees shipping 600 pieces per day. I am known for High quality Silver castings. As far as location. it does not matter to much as to where a caster lives since i have had over 200 customers from all over the country. Jewelry is great since it is small and light and can be easily mailed anywhere. I am currently in Tampa.
