I've read on other forums that you can save all your burnt petrobond sand & when you have enough you can re-constitute it with lubricating oil,it sounded a bit too good to be true but I gave it a go & it was useless!![to me anyway] has anybody done this succesfully? & if so can you let us in on the secret please thanks.

I have used the same Petrobond for over 10 years with no problem.
I don't seperate the burned from the good after a pour.
I mix it right back in and maybe add some motor oil once a year or so.
My metal is under 800 degrees so the petrobond doesn't get burned too badly.
To make it a finer grain for better detail I have added some sand flower also.
As an expeeriment, I poured a flywheel for a coffee mill by putting my flask into my spinner and at low rpm, it worked very well.
It was too thin to cast by gravity alone.

Any man that thinks he is too old to learn something new, probably always was.
