Just thought I'd throw in an update.... My son is building a new kiln/furnace,starting with my book and modifying the plans to fit materials at hand.His kiln/furnace is constructed from a 55 gallon barrel section and a 30 gallon barrel section resting on a nice looking welded 1 1/2" square steel tubing base.Using a 30 gallon barrel resulted in the lower furnace unit being a larger inside diameter than mine. It's a much better looking unit than my prototype I must say. He is currently building the waste oil burner from a stainless steel exhaust pipe. Am attaching a pic of furnace.
