Here's the link, it's called the Nudge Burner. He just machined a few parts and with air and oil control gets a nice flame. I think it's a little too complicated, it may be simpler to make but you get the idea. It's a real weed burner.
I'm going to make one when I get the little lathe going. By the way, any idea of the HP rating for the lathe? It shouldn't take much. I'll probably put on a 1 HP because thats what I have handy. Or a dryer motor, but it's ugly.

Note: To anyone tearing down old appliances for the scrap and wanting the motor. Mark all the wires to the motor first, use a meter to check Line and common. It's too late after you cut the wires.

I would tghink a 1/4 hp motor would be plenty, you will need a way to gear down the motors speed....Ill actually have to look up the shaft rpms required for different metals, my lathes are both belt driven and i can change thier speeds by jumping the belt
around. I have no Idea of actual shaft speed, just know what setting works for what metal or plastic.

A varible speed drill might be a quick answer......

I've got some smaller motors, I'll look around.

There was another guy that built one froma HF spray gun. It looked like it worked really well. The Hago is about $50, if you can get a $15 paint sprayer ($10 on sale ) to work, that's $40 left to buy the wife some flowers so you can stay out and melt some more.

Diesel Fuel burner
Here's another style from an old Popular Science 1936. This was posted by Andrei.
This was more what I had in mind. Might have to play with orafice size for waste oil.

Its 6 1/2" x 2" the inner hub sticks out another 1/2". I just took .030 off the outside and there is only 2 tiny little pin holes, another .010" and they would be gone
but im not that picky. Besides its supposed to look old not new and shiny
