You should mix it so that it is like a dry mortar, you should not be able to pour it. I mixed all my parts together dry.Its should be wet enough to stick together and thats about it. then you would ram it up about 3" deep layers. This stuff takes weeks to dry out by its self If you are impatient like me put it in the oven to dry it out. while its hot in the oven try putting your hand over the top of it, if its still wet you can feel the humidity coming out of it.
I cooked mine for about 5 hours then fired it to full temp. Someone told me to put a light bulb inside it to dry it out, im sure that would work as well but would make me nervious leaving it un attended. Also make a ball of refractory up and sit it off to the side to air dry, just so you can see how long it would take to air dry (weeks)

Well ... looks like I'm gonna buy that 10 ft stint of black iron from Lowe's ... they don't make have shorter stints of 1-1/4 inch. I tried at a plumbing and supply co. but they only sold 6 inch nipples. By the time I got 3 nipples, a coupling and a tee ... it was 25 dollars. So I'll just buy the 10" and have some for left over!

Good news! ...and bad news.
The good news is that I didn't a 1-1/4 inch pipe ... the OD of a 1 Inch black iron pipe is 1-1/4 inch! Which is the exact same size of my tuyere opening. So I was able to buy 2 twelve inch pieces and a tee.

The bad news is that the weather isn't cooperating for me to mix and ram my refractory. (Good ole Coastal North Carolina. If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and it'll change)

Do I also need to cut a hole in the inside form for the tuyere, or do I just insert the pipe and press it up against the form and start ramming the refractory?
