Need a few particulars on burners 3 Years ago
I am making a furnace for a #10 crucible to melt bronze. I have seen a few designs for burners here and elsewhere, but I am interested in buying one if possible.

What do I need to look for? I have one available to me for propane. I'm told (and I trust) that it puts out 80,000 btu. Frankly, though, I have no idea if that's enough? too much? Is there such a thing as too much?

And I've read that you need forced air. Is it possible to add forced air to a burner that is not designed for it?

Thanks to anyone who can help me here.

for a number ten crucible i think you will need two burners ,one on each side. lpg gas (bbq gas) burns at about 1500 deg c which is melting temp for bronze. the burners will need at least 20 psi gas pressure (i use mine straight from the bottle )i use a air compressor to add air to my gas as i use a oxy welding handpiece . a simple tube with a air tight tap fitted so as to regulate the air fitted to a airline and then the gas line will acheive the same result. do you intend to use other fuel as well?? like charcoal or oil.???
