I'm starting to get a little time to put toward my casting setup, and I figured I would start by making a burner.

I've done a fair bit of reading and looking around and am going to try to make a venturi type burner. The design I have is pretty simple and seems like it's been done plenty of times before. A 50mm body reducing to a 25mm tube. The pipe cap will have a hole in it, i'm going to make a orifice with a ring of holes around the outside to maintain the flame (rather than using a flare).

This is what I have so far:

Hi take a look at backyardmetalcasting and type in "up wind burner". He has a simple venturi-less burner that works well. I have a 3/4" pipe with a 3/4" to 2" coupling as a venturi with a brass 1/8" pipe drilled through the back end of the venturi. A number 57 hole in the center of the brass pipe is the jet. You will want to mark the pipe cap with the direction of the jet because it doesn't work worth a darn if the jet isn't pointing down the center of the 3/4" pipe. Happy melting
