Metal Casting Zone

today i decided to try and melt a garden tap. i made molds of flywheels for my steam models .i wanted to know if old taps were worth getting to melt and cast with. there is some debate wether the brass is any good to machine if it could be cast. i had no problems with either.
so one tap equals 3] 2 inch and two 1 1/2 flywheels. i actually melted two taps and the extra metal was used up with the sprues.

Lookin good XL, looking real good , now I feel like i need to go cast something.....

That's a crane fixture, depending in how old it is it may have been made in Mansfield, Ohio, just a few miles from me. They haven't done brass there for several years. I'm sure they have other places that cast their stuff, though.
