I'm gonna start sandcasting any day now, and I've been AGES trying to think of a way of getting flasks that doesn't involve woodwork, or paying for them. I can't believe I never thought of just making them in the proper way. Thankyou xlchainsaw. I am inspired.

this sounds terrific but you will need a 14 inch by 16 inch wooden flask to cast the little flasks in. however since i cast them ive become interested in using foam for a pattern. this may be a way of casting them in just a pile of rammed up sand in a wheelbarrow?????????????????

Nice Photos, I like the flask too. Maybe a round flask like that would work for some of my smaller stuff. I've got a big Aluminum pot just like yours that was left on the stove at my wife's restaurant, messed up the bottom. I was going to melt it down, now I think I'll use it.

dont melt it. they are great for mixing and mulling sand in. i was going to melt down three big old soup pots when suddenly i needed a metal bin and they were just laying there . so why not i thought. they are terrific and they can be melted later on anyway.
