These guys at google claim to have made a penny into brass with a Fresnel lense.
I doubt it. I think for that to have happened the penny would need to be deformed by the zinc melting first.

attached is their photo. They claim the middle penny is brass.

Thoughts?

If ture I might have to start doing all my casting using the power of the sun.

i would say that isn't not brass, It looks like oxidized copper to me. At work I have seen copper that looks the same after heating to 4 to 5 hundred degrees and left alone to cool.
