Metal Casting Zone

i was given a big box box of brass and copper lathe cuttings. after researching the subject i decided to give it a go. i used plenty of flux but it took about 2 hrs with my furnace going flat out to melt it yeilding only 80grams! ive given it away as a bad idea in my small furnace. i was so p..off i went to my box of brass lathe stock where i found a hunk 40mm round and 40mm thick. plus i had some brass plate 2mm thick! i hate to melt good stuff but i was so ....... by the time i made 3 small sand molds the brass was melted!! ive since cast 6 other items with no problem with melting brass! lathe cuttings .... best they go to the scrap man!

thanks. these are the patterns. the wheel is 50mm dia. and the bracket is 100mm long.

next time can you take photos of the flask mold you made all ramed up with sand ?? ect
its nice to see more of how people do it.
