Hi Xl
Quite impressive casting xl .What temp do you pour your brass?? Do you find the brass taps a good alloy for casting. It appears you lathe the wheel castings after casting to get perfect dementions. Is the brass not too hard? I have been thinking of using some brass taps for my lost wax casting of my model parts. brass taps are about the only source of brass easy to get. I have been told from other modelers one manufacture uses taps for his lost wax casting and they are extremly hard, and difficult to cut and work. THanks JOHNCAST hi john. brass taps are great! but there is some crap in the old ones lol lol (iron oxide) i have machined quite a few and heaps of brass fittings from "tap brass" . ive supplied quite a flywheels and bits and peices all around australia... all out of "tap brass" when i was easing into machining the flywheels ect made from tap brass i found the brass had hard and soft areas.?????????????????

so i started to anneal the brass before machining!! just perfect!

i anneal the brass before sending it off. if the brass is being used in a wear area you will need to harden it up before use.
