Looking for aluminum casting 1 Year, 1 Month ago  
I am looking for a metal worker that can help me fabricate an aluminum joint for a glass art sculpture. The shape of the sculpture is an equilateral triangle, so all the angles will be at 60 degrees. I have a 3-d file which was made in Rhino. (dm file) These joints will be holding a glass rod that has 6.5" diameter. We are looking for about 20 of theses joints. If anyone can help produce these joints please let me know. Of course we are willing to pay.

6 1/2" Dia rod, solid Glass? You should have an engineer look at this to check for the strength requirements and thickness needed for the aluminum parts. Are you going to mount some sort of eye bolts to hang it with.
I would imagine that using lost foam would be the best bet.

i cant see them being cast in green sand by traditional methods! lost foam would be best as someone could cut them out with a cnc lathe, dip them in ceramic shell and cast them.i dont have a cnc lathe so i cant help sorry.

dunno about casting this one, mitering and tig welding some pipe would be the best bet.
maybe cast the rounded tip and tig it on. Hmm now that sounds feasible
