investment cast/4th pour 1 Year, 8 Months ago
this pour is our first all lost wax molds.

i used the same investment formula,
and the same burn out.

good news and bad news...

one of the molds didn't pour!

i think i know what went wrong

so i will try to give some advice that is hard earned.

when we loaded the kiln,

there was one very large mold and 4 smaller ones.

i placed the large one in the middle and surrounded it

with the smaller ones.

long story short

there was still moisture or wax in the investment.

( it never got hot enough )

it makes for a show but not good parts.

as the investment is broken away you can see

the mold is not completely burned out.

the mold should be white through out.

oh well a lesson learned,

longer soak at temp.

and different loading of the kiln...

next time.

a small frown from the casting gods i guess,
